Saw it in the movie previews.. Looks interesting, but it looks like the whole thing is computer animated rather than the actual actor.. They got the hair done right though, even though it does look quite old fashioned.

What I dont get is why they dont follow the comic. I mean, these stories havent been the best, and now this story has nothing to do with anything. They never did have a superman battle with Doomsday that was so popular in the comics. Whatever they do, wont matter, as it is not Christopher Reeves, and its mostly CG. What a shame.

they don't have to remake Superman ... that would be a big mistake because the first film got it right.

I think they're trying to do what Batman Begins did for Batman ... which is a mistake because BB needed to be made to fix Batman which sucked.

And I hope they don't try to make Superman a "dark" figure ...

I actually, think it will be a good movie. It'll give a fresh Superman to emerging generations. I think it's a good idea to make a Superman with the technology we have today. If Tom Welling did it, he'd have to stop Smalleville. I don't think that would have been a good move for him. Looks good and I'll definitely be seeing it when it comes to theatres in 2006.

Lol this brings up the age old question my friend asked:

"Could Superman beat Batman if Superman did not have his powers?!"

*sigh* Yes this man is also an avid xbox 360 supporter.

The movie plot is that superman for many years is no longer needed on earth. He returns to find earth running well without him. He then must spend the whole movie proving they need him. Who cares? I mean, if you defeat all the bad guys, what else is there to do? Trouble with most of these comic book movies, they kill off the bad guys, which in the comics rarely ever happens. Once all the bad guys are dead, whats left?
And I know doomsday was in the comics... What I dont understand is why Doomsday never made it to a film with Superman. That was an important event in the comic book, why not put it on film?

a lot of it is more digital than you think. they guy that plays superman is well endowed (he's got a huge package) so they had to "reduce" his size digitally.

that is how far our soceity has come we have to edit someone with a large package.

Only reason they wouldn't make a movie of Superman battling Doomsday is because, if they wanted to do the comics any sort of justice, Superman would have to die in the fight. I think it would be really cool since I love that specific part in the superman story. But after all that stuff we'd get into all their weird plot stuff, with guys like Eradicator and the Red and Blue Supermen and all that stuff I don't remember all too well.

They dont have to go that far... Just set the fight, let him die... thats the end. No more movies, no comeback, nothing. Let Superman save the earth one last time, and go out as a hero. Most people 25 and over know the original Superman movies, and nothing can ever be better than those.
Package reduction? For what? Everybody knows why he is really called
"Superman". No reason to hide it.

Ive never been much of a comic book guy. How does superman die exactly if anyone could fill me in? Isnt it with some kind of weird kryptonite or something? What happens after the villain kills him?

I know I can google this, but im at work and if anyone is bored and is an expert im sure they would enjoy typing something!

Superman basically figures out a way to hurt Doomsday. The comic comes to a quick end when both Superman and Doomsday strike eachother for a fatal blow. The impact shattered windows and such all across Metropolis. They both die... for a while. Still, it would be something to see on the big screen. They would have a big cast, great battles and nice CG effects. Or they can just have plain old Superman, and his giant package, fly around stopping boring missiles and robberies.

lets see how Louis Lane fits in this new plot , without love story superman means nothing

imo , superman is not just about busting bad guys , he is about clark kent , the diferent personalitys from kent and the actual super man , the way he as to be diferent to fit in sociaty. and also his romance with louis lane , the kent and superman relations .. this was what made the first movie especial afaik.
i was only a kid at the time , but i remember my mother saying , it was genius well done , very well taken from the original storys.

Seeing the old pics of Reeves makes me sad. I too grew up with him as Superman. It will be hard to see another person in his shoes. Just wont be the same. Like taking Sean Connery out of 007. I dont know if I would feel right watching the new Superman film. I never felt comfortable watching Lois and Clark, or Smallville. It might be great for a younger generation who did not know Reeves, but for me, it will never be as good.

hey for me its losing Peirce Brosan out of 007. but hey i grew up watching Dean Cain play superman in the adventures of lois and clark and heck i was happy when they changed over to tom welling for smallville. now i get to become used to a new superman. but i still remember watching old reeves supermans so it saddens my heart to see old pics of him...
